Job description

Role overview

The Senior Officer for Business Intelligence supports management information reporting for the business segments and contributes to analytics that turn data into practical insights for strategic and operational decision-making.

Key duties

  • Own the customer profitability reporting cycle for both WBG and RBG, including validating source data, reconciling results with financial records at GL level, completing FTP and liability expense allocations, and issuing RM, division, and branch level reports within agreed timelines and with segmental variance kept below 5%.
  • Prepare and distribute client-level daily balance reports for RBG and WBG, covering balance sheets, funding gaps, daily variance tracking, and yield analysis.
  • Support the monthly CEO dashboard process and produce the weekly MI pack with limited supervision.
  • Work with business and product teams in RBG and WBG to refresh the business pipeline, then build the bi-weekly forecast covering income, assets, and liabilities, while factoring in underlying assumptions and balance sheet drivers.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting exercise, which begins in Q3, by preparing division-level budgets for the following year and helping cascade them to product, branch, and RM levels with division and unit heads.
  • Partner with the IT data modelling team to maintain strong data integrity across the bank-wide data warehouse.
  • Monitor data quality across the client portfolio, create control reports, and ensure new relationship accounts are set up with the correct static coding so reporting remains accurate.
  • Contribute to BI-related projects within the Finance Division, excluding regulatory reporting, whether the work is developed internally or sourced externally, to improve information flow and control environment.

Working scope and accountability

The role requires significant independence in day-to-day work, with activity guided by BI policy, broader bank policies, and applicable local and international laws. Output is reviewed by the Manager(s) BI, VP Business Intelligence, and senior leadership.

The position carries meaningful decision-making responsibility, as recommendations can influence senior management decisions and affect the bank’s reputation. The holder is expected to manage unexpected situations responsibly and make prompt, independent judgments where needed.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree in analytics, finance-related disciplines, or another related field is required. The role also calls for around five years of experience in a management information function.

Technical and professional requirements

  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work confidently with database management tools and handle large data volumes independently.
  • Practical understanding of funds transfer pricing and expense allocation methods.
  • Good working knowledge of banking-specific IT platforms and database management practices.
