About the Role
Avantor is looking to hire an experienced and proactive Senior Materials Controller to join the Laboratory Services team at a major biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Limerick. This on-site position plays a crucial operational role managing inventory, stockroom tasks, and ensuring smooth material flow within a GMP-regulated setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily inventory management and material handling according to established procedures.
- Receive, inspect, and properly log incoming materials.
- Ensure materials are stored and organized correctly.
- Timely distribution of materials to end users to support on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery.
- Maintain up-to-date and precise inventory records and system documentation.
- Conduct cycle counts and help maintain inventory accuracy.
- Identify and resolve common stock issues such as missing or damaged items and incorrect storage.
- Escalate complex problems like supply disruptions or system faults when necessary.
- Use standard processes and past experience to address recurring challenges.
- Compliance with GMP, environmental health and safety (EHS), and site-specific procedures is mandatory.
- Keep accurate documentation to facilitate audits and inspections.
- Help ensure audit readiness through consistent process adherence.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Material Controllers during daily activities.
- Assist in coordinating team workload effectively.
- Serve as a contact for routine site queries and communicate updates to supervisors.
- Identify and support simple improvements for stockroom accuracy and efficiency.
- Contribute to implementing process enhancements as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum education: Leaving Certificate required; additional relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- Proven experience in inventory control, stock management, or warehouse roles.
- Experience working within a structured, process-oriented environment.
- Prior exposure to regulated environments such as GMP or GLP is advantageous.
- Experience in supporting or leading team members is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable performing hands-on operational tasks.
- Ability to follow prescribed procedures and resolve recurring issues effectively.
- Basic proficiency in IT, including Excel.
- Good communication skills to interact with stakeholders.
Work Environment
This role requires on-site presence at the Limerick facility, supporting critical scientific operations in a collaborative environment with opportunities to grow within a GMP-regulated context.
