Role Overview

The Senior Manager of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Operations will lead daily activities of our RCM team, overseeing associates and contractors. Reporting directly to the Head of RCM, this role entails managing the entire revenue cycle process—from claim generation to payment finalization—while ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and excellent client experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of RCM associates and contractors, fostering a culture focused on high-quality work and team success.
  • Manage day-to-day RCM functions including medical coding, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-ups, maintaining a weekly schedule to ensure progress and resolve obstacles swiftly.
  • Lead critical projects end-to-end such as onboarding new clients, revamping processes, and deploying system enhancements, coordinating resources and keeping leadership informed throughout.
  • Monitor and report on vital RCM KPIs like clean claim rates, days in accounts receivable, and net collection rates, identifying trends and suggesting improvements to leadership.
  • Participate in important client discussions to build trust and strengthen relationships through the team’s performance, complementing the account management efforts of the Head of RCM.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and payer-specific regulations while developing consistent processes and documentation to support team growth.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5 years experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, medical billing or healthcare operations, including at least 2 years managing mid-sized teams in dynamic environments.
  • Proficient in utilizing RCM software such as clearinghouses, EHR/practice management systems, and advanced denial management tools.
  • Proven ability to organize and deliver projects on time with proactive and thorough follow-up.
  • Strong data-driven mindset with experience leveraging operational analytics to evaluate team performance and derive actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership skills in hiring, mentoring, and developing remote teams of associates and contractors.
  • Experience engaging effectively with clients to communicate clearly and establish trust.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable working in fast-paced startup settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in revenue cycle management within eye care sectors like optometry or ophthalmology.
  • Professional medical coding certifications (e.g., CPC, COC).
  • Background in client service environments managing RCM for external healthcare providers.
  • Expertise in RCM platforms including TriZetto, Availity, or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of 837/835 electronic file formats.
  • Experience managing a blended workforce of full-time employees and contractors.

Benefits and Perks

  • Work with a mission-focused, fast-growing company transforming eye care.
  • Fully remote position based anywhere in the United States.
  • Collaborate with a passionate and supportive team.
  • Competitive compensation package: $80,000-$100,000 base salary plus $15,000-$25,000 variable pay linked to RCM performance metrics.
  • Equity participation in the growing startup.
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Annual stipend to support professional development.
  • Significant opportunities for growth, ownership, and creative impact.
