About the Organisation
Singapore General Hospital (SGH) plays a leading role in healthcare advancement through research and innovation. Its Research and Innovation Office (RIO) drives the hospital’s research and innovation strategy, strengthens capabilities, and serves as a central coordination and administration hub to support research excellence across Singapore’s largest public hospital.
Role Summary
This position calls for an experienced finance professional to support research and innovation funding administration at SGH. The role combines strategic financial oversight, grant and fund management, stakeholder coordination, and administrative leadership to help deliver the hospital’s research and innovation goals.
Core Responsibilities
The role involves financial planning, fund monitoring, and support for strategic decision-making, along with grant management, compliance, and team supervision.
- Support the Research and Innovation Director and Deputy Director in overseeing RIO finances and managing funds and grants.
- Prepare financial analyses and recommendations to guide senior management decisions.
- Track fund utilisation and project cash flow to improve resource planning across research and innovation initiatives.
- Develop funding proposals for strategic grants and other key initiatives.
- Handle NMRC Centre Grant (CG) funding, including coordination with Research and Innovation Programmes, Peaks, and Enablers.
- Work with investigators to build project cost estimates and budgets.
- Monitor hiring requests for positions funded by research and innovation grants.
- Ensure all grant activity follows the relevant terms, conditions, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams such as investigators, innovators, Programmes/Peaks/Enablers, HR, and Finance.
- Maintain liaison with the SingHealth Office of Research and external funding bodies.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of fund management executives.
- Review purchase requests and claims.
- Ensure adherence to institutional policies, funding rules, and administrative controls.
- Support the rollout of systems and policies related to fund administration.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent discipline, and bring at least 6 years of relevant finance, accounting, or administration experience in healthcare, academic, or research environments. A strong background in grant planning and financial analysis is expected, along with experience working with national grant funding agencies. Hands-on familiarity with SAP systems is also required.
