Senior Manager Government Relations and Public Policy

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior-level professional to lead government relations and public policy efforts focused on education. This role involves building and nurturing strategic alliances with senior bureaucrats and officials from central and state government ministries. The goal is to influence education policy through evidence-based advocacy and represent the organization in key dialogues with government and ecosystem partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain strong professional connections with senior government officials across central and state ministries.
• Lead initiatives that drive policy advocacy grounded in solid evidence and data.
• Act as the organization’s representative in strategic conversations involving senior government stakeholders and education ecosystem participants.
• Gain deep insights into the education department's priorities, decision-making timelines, and policy frameworks to synchronize organizational objectives accordingly.
• Publish insightful articles sharing the organization’s impact and learnings within the education sector.
• Identify growth prospects spanning multiple government layers and thematic areas.
• Collaborate closely with leadership teams to design programs, craft proposals, and develop partnership models.
• Define and manage frameworks to measure, report, and document the impact generated by projects.
• Engage with ecosystem organizations to formulate broad policy recommendations and promote their adoption.
• Conduct research and consult stakeholders to support informed decision-making processes.
• Effectively communicate progress, insights, and success stories internally and to government counterparts.
• Adapt to ambiguous environments, independently chart paths forward, and juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Candidate Profile

• Holds an MBA or Master's degree in Public Policy or a related discipline.
• Possesses at least 8 years of relevant experience in consulting, public policy, project management, or government liaison roles.
• Demonstrates strong familiarity with government ecosystems within the education sector.
• Exhibits a high degree of ownership and willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve targeted outcomes.
• Experience advising and collaborating closely with senior bureaucrats such as Secretaries and Joint Secretaries in Central Government, or Principal Secretaries and above in state governments, is essential.
• Background in leveraging or developing tech products for social impact or digital public goods (DPGs) is preferred.
• Proven experience in leading data-driven advocacy efforts with senior stakeholders to influence policy decisions.
• Skilled in managing teams and overseeing complex multi-stakeholder programs.
• Strategic thinker with a strong bias towards execution and results.
• Able to thrive in uncertain, complex environments and adept at stakeholder navigation.
