Job Overview

The Senior Manager for Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for guiding project controls and ensuring financial governance across designated projects or portfolios. This role plays a critical part in overseeing contracts, budgets, schedules, risks, and reporting with comprehensive control frameworks. Additionally, the position provides strategic financial insights and supports senior leadership in making well-informed decisions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage contract alterations, including change orders and extensions related to time and costs, ensuring thorough evaluation, proper documentation, approvals, and communication.
  • Monitor the allocation and use of project contingencies and provisional sums, enforcing strict budget controls aligned with authorized business cases.
  • Lead cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis, delivering transparent reports and mitigation plans to senior management.
  • Ensure accuracy and reconciliation of data across integrated systems such as SAP, Primavera P6, Unifier, and BIM.
  • Supervise monthly accrual evaluations and financial closing procedures to maintain compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversee modifications to schedules and analyze their combined impact on cost and timelines.
  • Conduct risk and opportunity assessments regularly, ensuring timely recognition, evaluation, and reporting of critical exposures.
  • Serve as a principal connection point among Finance, Commercial, and Project Delivery groups to foster cooperation and clarity.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to project controls teams, emphasizing governance, responsibility, and ongoing enhancement.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficient experience or certification with project management tools such as Primavera P6, Unifier, and SAP project modules is mandatory.
  • Preferred professional certifications include CPA, MBA, PMP, or certifications in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution (e.g., RICS).
  • At least 8 years of experience in Project Controls or Development Finance within large construction companies, major developers, or Project Management Consultants (PMC).
