Job description

Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Community Impact Operations is the main operational lead for the Community Impact team at San Diego FC. This position is responsible for designing, running, and improving the systems, workflows, and infrastructure that allow community impact programs to grow in a sustainable way. Reporting to the VP of Community Impact, the role supports grassroots football programming, community initiatives, nonprofit partnerships, fundraising activities, and cross-functional project delivery. The Senior Manager works closely with the Director, Football Growth and the Senior Director, Community Impact to keep programs consistent, accountable, and executed with a high standard of operational excellence. This position calls for strong organization, process design, project management, relationship management, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to bring order to complex work, anticipate needs, and keep multiple initiatives moving at once.

Community Impact Operations and Execution

  • Coordinate planning and delivery for Community Impact programs, events, and partnerships so they run smoothly, stay on budget, and remain on schedule.
  • Help maintain team timelines, project plans, deliverables, and day-to-day operational workflows.
  • Manage coordination with vendors, contractors, consultants, venues, registrations, permits, waivers, credentials, and other logistics tied to Community Impact work.
  • Act as a key operational point of contact for the Community Impact team, promoting clear communication, accountability, and reliable follow-through.
  • Share responsibility for recruiting, onboarding, and managing part-time staff, contractors, and program support personnel when needed.
  • Share responsibility for matchday activations, community events, football programming, and stakeholder engagement activities as required.

Systems, Process Improvement, and Administration

  • Build, refine, and maintain operational systems, tools, workflows, and standards that improve team effectiveness and support future scale.
  • Develop and update playbooks, documentation, templates, and working best practices.
  • Lead the rollout and optimization of registration tools, CRM platforms, scheduling systems, reporting tools, and related operational technologies.
  • Set up processes that strengthen communication, reduce bottlenecks, and improve accountability across programs and partners.
  • Spot operational gaps early and implement practical solutions that improve efficiency and program quality.

General Operations and Fundraising Support

  • Support the ongoing development and operational oversight of the San Diego FC Community Impact Fund and any future nonprofit operations.
  • Handle fund administration support, including fundraising materials, meeting preparation, documentation, and related operational processes.
  • Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, fundraising campaigns, special events, and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Support grant administration, reporting obligations, impact documentation, and funding-related communications.
  • Maintain donor and fundraising records, ensuring commitments, deliverables, and outcomes are tracked accurately.
  • Work with the VP, Community Impact on nonprofit engagement strategy and philanthropic growth opportunities.

Measurement, Reporting, and Strategic Support

  • Build and maintain tracking systems for participation, performance, budgets, stakeholder engagement, and program outcomes across Community Impact initiatives.
  • Create dashboards, reports, presentations, and evaluation materials that inform decisions and support strategic planning.
  • Oversee budget tracking, expense reconciliation, and resource allocation processes alongside department leadership.
  • Support annual planning, fundraising and impact reporting, and goal tracking for the department.
  • Turn data, feedback, and operational insight into practical recommendations that strengthen programs and improve overall team performance.
  • Help promote a culture of transparency, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence across the Community Impact team and community coaches.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit operations, program management, or community-based work, with youth programs, nonprofits, civic organizations, sports, or related fields preferred.
  • Proven ability to create and manage operational systems in environments with multiple programs.
  • Strong background in measurement, reporting, and evaluation frameworks for programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience managing outward-facing communications and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong project management and organizational ability with experience balancing several priorities at the same time.
  • Comfort working in complex, multi-stakeholder settings with professionalism, warmth, and dependable follow-through.
  • Direct experience with underserved communities and youth programming, or strong familiarity with those settings.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when programming requires it.
  • Must be based in San Diego, CA and have reliable personal transportation throughout the county.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.

  • Experience juggling multiple priorities and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong capability in budget monitoring, financial tracking, and resource allocation.

  • Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work well with internal teams and outside partners.
  • Ability to foresee needs, identify operational issues, and put solutions in place proactively.
  • Experience supporting fundraising operations, donor stewardship, grant administration, and foundation-related work.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office, project management tools, CRM systems, registration platforms, and data management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with solid follow-through and personal accountability.
  • Ability to think strategically while still handling hands-on execution.
  • Genuine interest in community impact, youth development, football, and building systems that deliver measurable results.
