KPMG New Zealand holds a strong position as a trusted M&A advisor, supported by a senior team with extensive investment banking experience. The firm is currently seeking a senior professional to help lead daily M&A advisory engagements and contribute to business development efforts. The successful candidate will become part of a globally acclaimed M&A platform, noted consistently as a top mid-market performer, and affiliated with an award-winning local team managing both domestic and cross-border deals, frequently collaborating with international colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete lifecycle of M&A transactions, from initial origination to closure.
  • Take charge of critical components such as financial modeling, development of marketing materials, and overall project management.
  • Establish and nurture trusted relationships with clients and essential external parties, including investors, financiers, and legal professionals.
  • Support efforts in business development and contribute to sourcing new deal opportunities.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of high performance within the group.
  • Engage with KPMG’s global M&A network to pursue cross-border transactions and opportunities.

Candidate Profile

  • At least six years of experience working within high-caliber corporate advisory, investment banking, or corporate development environments.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage significant transaction workstreams successfully.
  • Strong technical expertise, particularly in financial modeling and valuation methods.
  • Sound commercial judgment paired with a practical, solution-focused approach.
  • Impressive academic background; postgraduate qualifications or CFA certification are advantageous.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a talent for building trusted professional relationships.
  • A collaborative working style underpinned by strong teamwork ethos.
  • A clear passion and commitment towards developing a career in M&A.
