Role Overview
The Senior Lifecycle Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions, serves as a key extension of clients' HR departments by independently handling all aspects of employee exits across diverse international jurisdictions with a strong focus on legal compliance, quality, and exceptional client experience. This role also provides primary employee relations assistance by guiding clients through workplace issues and coordinating relevant resources. The Specialist is expected to contribute to process enhancements and align initiatives with Remote's strategic objectives.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee complex, end-to-end employee offboarding processes with minimal oversight, ensuring superior experience across multiple countries.
- Offer expert advice on termination, resignation, transfers, employment agreements, and redundancy, ensuring adherence to legal frameworks and best practices.
- Lead client and employee consultations, including workforce reductions, hearings, negotiations, and settlement discussions, delivering informed termination outcomes.
- Skillfully negotiate favorable resolutions for challenging termination cases, managing multiple stakeholders with competing interests.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Payroll, Legal, Customer Success, Benefits, Time & Attendance) and external bodies (government agencies, unions) to ensure compliant offboarding and audits.
- Prepare and manage termination and related documentation carefully, maintaining strict confidentiality and data privacy standards.
- Serve as a first-level escalation point for team members, providing mentorship and expert guidance.
- Assess workplace concerns, identify legal implications, and support clients in managing progressive disciplinary actions and documentation.
- Monitor ongoing employee relations cases for timely and appropriate resolution.
- Drive initiatives to improve processes, automation, product development, and customer experience related to offboarding and employee relations.
- Define procedures and evaluation criteria for new tasks, exercising independent judgment to meet wider team and organizational goals.
Key Qualifications and Attributes
- Experience in HR advising or HR business partnering with broad employee lifecycle expertise.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, labor relations, or employment law are advantageous.
- Demonstrated track record managing voluntary and involuntary employee exits sensitively and lawfully, offering comprehensive HR guidance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline, and workplace investigations.
- Capability to interpret labor instruments, analyze complex HR challenges, research solutions, and communicate recommendations clearly in ambiguous settings.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, able to conduct difficult conversations professionally while maintaining confidentiality.
- Advanced proficiency in spoken and written English; additional languages a plus.
- Keen interest in innovation, process optimization, automation, and embracing AI tools.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on operational efficiency, data accuracy, and record maintenance.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to work asynchronously using diverse collaboration tools.
- Self-driven, accountable, and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced international remote environment, adaptable to flexible hours.

- The salary range for this position is USD 46,500 to 117,750 annually, adjusted by location and candidate qualifications, reflecting Remote’s commitment to fair and equitable pay.
