Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site position in Doha for a Senior Instrumentation Technician (Operations & Maintenance) supporting foul sewerage pumping stations. The job centers on keeping instrumentation and control systems running safely and efficiently through routine operation, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, calibration, repairs, and record keeping.
What You Will Do
- Oversee and carry out operation and maintenance work for instrumentation and control systems at foul sewerage pumping stations.
- Inspect, test, calibrate, and repair field instruments, sensors, transmitters, control panels, and related equipment.
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Diagnose faults, apply troubleshooting methods, and complete corrective repairs on instrumentation and control assets.
- Work with PLC- and RTU-based control systems, marshaling panels, and control panels.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, calibration records, and technical documentation.
- Support process improvements and help optimize plant performance.
- Follow safety, permit-to-work, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with operations, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure smooth station performance.
- Guide and support junior technicians as needed.
- Respond to urgent breakdowns and emergencies, including pressure situations and on-call or shift duties where required.
Technical Scope
The role covers hands-on work with pressure, flow, temperature, level, and vibration instruments; transmitters; sensors; industrial pumps; gas monitoring units; control valves; MOVs; fire alarm panels; and automated mechanical screens installed in foul sewer pumping stations and connected infrastructure.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have 8 to 10 years of Gulf experience in senior instrumentation work within wastewater or sewerage pumping stations, or comparable industrial facilities. You should be able to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and operate under demanding conditions.
Education and Knowledge
A technical diploma or degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Control Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Strong practical knowledge of process control and instrumentation for sewerage pumping station systems is essential, along with the ability to read P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals, and use diagnostic tools and test equipment effectively.
Requirements and Skills
- 8 to 10 years of Gulf experience in instrumentation operations and maintenance.
- Strong experience with process control systems and station instrumentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control failures independently.
- Practical expertise in preventive maintenance planning and execution.
- Skilled in calibration of sensors, transmitters, flow meters, level instruments, and similar devices.
- Knowledge of PLC and RTU systems, marshaling panels, and control panels.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues in pumps, control valves, MOVs, gas monitoring units, fire alarm panels, and automated screens.
- Understanding of safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and environmental standards.
- Capability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to guide junior staff and work under pressure.
- Willingness to work on-site and participate in emergency, shift, or on-call coverage as required.
