Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Implementation Manager to join a leading payments company in Ireland. The role involves leading complex implementation, conversion, and integration programmes encompassing customer portfolios, data migration, technology products, and third-party vendor coordination. You will manage the complete implementation lifecycle from defining scope and strategy to delivery, evaluation, and handover to business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and conversion projects of diverse size and complexity.
- Define scope, objectives, requirements, and solution specifications for programmes.
- Develop detailed plans including budgets, delivery timelines, and milestones.
- Secure necessary resources to ensure successful delivery.
- Establish governance frameworks with clear decision-making and authority lines.
- Manage execution to ensure plans are completed successfully.
- Supervise data migration across multiple systems.
- Lead integration and conversion of payment products for new customer portfolios.
- Assist with introduction and operationalisation of new products and processes.
- Oversee customer and third-party vendor integrations and conversions.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams.
- Monitor progress, risks, dependencies, budgets, and project results.
- Provide transparent reporting and updates to executive sponsors and senior stakeholders.
- Lead diverse teams including professionals, operational staff, and subject matter experts.
- Allocate work, set priorities, and track team performance and delivery.
- Foster ownership, accountability, and decisive decision-making within project teams.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout implementations.
- Conduct reviews post-implementation and assess programme success.
- Ensure smooth transition to business-as-usual with appropriate processes and support models.
Required Experience
- Minimum eight years’ experience in project or programme management.
- Proven track record delivering large, complex implementations, conversions or transformations.
- Background in payments, banking, financial services or regulated environments.
- Solid understanding of system implementation, data conversion and technology integrations.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or workstreams.
- Extensive experience collaborating with business stakeholders in cross-functional matrix organisations.
- Strong expertise managing clients and third-party vendors.
- Proven ability to handle senior and executive stakeholder relationships.
- Accountability for programme scope, budgets, schedules, risk and quality management.
- Proficient with project and programme management frameworks and tools.
- Familiar with the software development lifecycle.
- Experience operating in both Agile and Waterfall delivery methods.
- Strong leadership to drive organisational and operational change.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional background.
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to payment-platform or payment-product implementation projects.
- Experience with customer or merchant portfolio conversions.
- Background in consulting or professional services.
- Certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management qualifications.
- MBA or another relevant postgraduate qualification.
