Role overview
Mott MacDonald is hiring a Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join its expanding Water team in Auckland. The position focuses on water and/or wastewater modelling and planning work that helps improve infrastructure, community resilience, and long-term service delivery across New Zealand.
The role sits within a collaborative environment of engineers, planners, and digital specialists. The successful person will contribute to projects that influence how water systems are designed, improved, and managed for growing communities.
Key responsibilities
- Take the lead on hydraulic modelling and network planning assignments for water and/or wastewater systems.
- Build, update, and improve models that inform master planning and infrastructure decisions.
- Use tools such as InfoWorks WS Pro, EPANET, InfoWorks ICM, DHI MIKE+, ArcGIS, and QGIS as part of modelling and analysis work.
- Work closely with teams based in Auckland, Wellington, and other locations across the business.
- Present findings, recommendations, and technical ideas clearly to clients and other stakeholders.
- Support the development of junior colleagues and help maintain a learning-focused team culture.
What you should bring
- A qualification in Engineering, Science, Geography, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in hydraulic modelling and water/wastewater network planning.
- Strong analytical ability and a practical approach to solving problems.
- Confident communication skills and a team-oriented working style.
