About the Company and Role

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, a leading fintech company specializing in payment tokenization is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner. This role plays a critical part in partnering with leadership and employees, driving people strategies, and supporting various technical and business teams including Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Go-to-Market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of assigned teams’ objectives and environment to provide insightful business partnership focused on organizational design, role clarity, team effectiveness, workforce planning, structure, and talent management priorities.
  • Function as a primary resource for managers and employees by coaching on performance management, conflict resolution, attendance, accommodations, leaves, conduct, employee relations, and conducting fair investigations in collaboration with legal when needed.
  • Lead talent-related processes including performance evaluations, goal-setting, succession planning, talent reviews, development, promotions, and corrective actions, aiming to improve feedback quality and make informed talent decisions.
  • Collaborate with People leadership and Finance on compensation, job leveling, pay decisions, promotions, and retention strategies, ensuring consistency in application of frameworks and identifying where calibration or guidance is necessary.
  • Plan and implement organizational changes such as restructures and leadership transitions, ensuring proper communication, documentation, and sensitivity to employee experiences. Manage compliant offboarding and termination procedures.
  • Enhance employee experience and culture by maintaining ongoing listening efforts through check-ins, office hours, focus groups, and targeted outreach, differentiating between individual and systemic issues and advising leaders on actionable steps.
  • Translate company-wide HR programs and policies into effective execution at the team level, working alongside People Operations and Recruiting on hiring, onboarding, engagement, mobility, leaves, and offboarding, while improving unclear processes.
  • Use people data and qualitative insights to identify trends in attrition, engagement, performance, and organizational health, delivering clear recommendations while upholding confidentiality and consistent practices.

Candidate Requirements

  • Over 7 years of progressive human resources experience, including significant roles as HR Business Partner or generalist supporting leaders and employees.
  • Proven expertise advising senior leaders and coaching managers on complex employee relations, performance issues, organizational design, and talent decisions.
  • Solid understanding of California and multi-state employment laws, with sound judgment to seek specialized legal advice when necessary.
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to core HR processes such as performance management, compensation planning, promotions, talent reviews, employee engagement, and workforce planning.
  • Strong business insight and analytical capabilities, able to link employee data and feedback to business priorities and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills adaptable to all organizational levels from employees to executives.
  • High levels of discretion, sound judgment, and consistency managing confidential and critical HR matters.
  • Practical and humble approach; well-organized, responsive, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to balance strategic counsel with detailed execution.
  • Familiarity with workforce planning and headcount management processes.
