Role summary
The Senior Financial Controller will be based in Munich, Germany and will help protect the accuracy and integrity of the company’s finances. The position is focused on compliance with accounting standards, timely financial reporting, and support for business decisions through high-quality analysis and planning. The role covers a wide range of finance responsibilities that contribute to transparency, operational effectiveness, and stronger overall business performance.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements in accordance with HGB and IFRS requirements.
- Create short- and long-range forecasts as well as liquidity plans to support performance management and cash flow control.
- Enhance methods for calculating product contribution margins and profitability to generate better commercial insights.
- Work closely with accounting, operations, and other teams to maintain data quality and support accurate financial planning.
- Contribute to the creation, tracking, and review of annual budgets using historical results and market trends.
- Analyse the performance of customers, products, sales channels, and operations to uncover risks and areas for growth.
- Provide clear financial analysis and reporting that helps improve profitability and informs strategic decisions.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by spotting inefficiencies and helping implement cost reduction actions.
- Build and maintain frameworks for import evaluation and inventory analysis, including reviews of cost, compliance, and stock optimisation.
- Participate in finance projects, strategic planning discussions, and ongoing improvements to financial systems and processes.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS, with practical experience in reporting and compliance.
- A proactive, hands-on mindset with the ability to analyse complex data carefully and accurately.
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, preferably with a Controlling focus.
- Proven experience in financial planning, forecasting, KPI analysis, and broader financial performance management.
- Background in product costing and supporting cost control initiatives.
- Good understanding of cash flow management and core finance processes.
- Fluency in German and English at C1/C2 level, along with strong communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and solid experience with Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint.
- Helpful background in procurement within the fresh produce or food sector.
- Exposure to working with transport providers and handling quality claims is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of import/export procedures and tax documentation would be an advantage.
