Senior Finance Analyst - Energy & Land Regeneration

About the Role

Join Biffa's Energy & Land Regeneration Division as a Senior Finance Analyst based in High Wycombe with hybrid working. Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in delivering insightful financial analysis, detailed reporting, and strong commercial support within the landfill business. Collaborating closely with operational and finance teams, you will drive informed decision-making through meticulous financial planning, management reporting, and analysis. You'll also assist with budgets, forecasts, and strategic initiatives while maintaining stringent financial governance and controls across the division.

Responsibilities

• Compile monthly management accounts including variance analysis and detailed performance commentary, adhering to deadlines.
• Present financial results and insights monthly to operational managers and senior leadership to assist commercial decisions.
• Oversee capital expenditure reporting, provisions, and forecasting to keep spending within budget.
• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and five-year financial planning processes, ensuring accurate planning and supporting submissions.
• Deliver financial analyses that offer actionable insights into business profitability and performance.
• Maintain rigorous financial controls through balance sheet reconciliations and compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
• Conduct site visits and audits to verify adherence to financial and operational procedures.
• Support year-end audit activities and provide relevant financial data to Group Finance and external parties.
• Collaborate broadly across Finance and Operations to identify and implement improvements and efficiencies.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant designation (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA).
• Minimum of two years in a finance or commercial accounting role.
• Proficient in managing monthly accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial systems.
• Excellent analytical thinking, organizational capabilities, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships with various stakeholders.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Valid UK driving license with willingness to travel to sites, including occasional overnight stays.
