Job description
Role overview
This position sits within the Landscape Unit and serves as a technical specialist for horticulture, arboriculture, irrigation, greenery condition, and compliance across Sentosa. The role is responsible for helping ensure that landscape assets remain safe, healthy, compliant, and properly maintained, while also contributing to sustainability targets and operational excellence.
Key work areas
- Tree care and arboriculture management: Oversee tree health, treatment adherence, and maintenance quality delivered by IFM teams for all trees within the maintenance boundary, including heritage and high-value specimens.
- Check IFM performance and make sure required standards are consistently followed.
- Carry out tree risk assessments and prepare technical advice and recommendations.
- Advise on tree health, retention, relocation, and protection measures for trees affected by development works.
- Approve trees for removal or works before project commencement, when required under development procedures.
- Horticulture quality improvement: Introduce and monitor upgraded horticulture and maintenance practices.
- Ensure plant health, treatment compliance, and maintenance quality delivered by IFM.
- Review IFM outcomes and enforce agreed standards.
- Provide technical guidance on plant care, soil conditions, and treatment approaches.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and trial initiatives aimed at raising horticulture standards.
- Irrigation and water management: Assess irrigation and water-use efficiency in relation to plant health and observed outcomes.
- Contribute to island-wide greenery water strategy planning and water crisis response preparation.
- Projects and stakeholder coordination: Assist with development and infrastructure projects involving tree protection and greenery compliance during works.
- Work with internal stakeholders and contractors to resolve implementation issues.
- Support landscape enhancement delivery and precinct dressing/activation efforts.
- Oversee greenery and nature area management.
- Handle administrative tasks and other duties assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Horticulture, Arboriculture, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in arboriculture and landscape management.
- Solid technical understanding of arboriculture and tree risk management.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture maintenance practices.
- Experience supervising contractors and site operations.
- ISA Certified Arborist credential with practical arboriculture experience, familiarity with tropical trees and taxonomy, and background in landscape project management will be an advantage.
- Good analytical judgement and problem-solving ability.
- Effective stakeholder coordination and communication skills.
- Organised, methodical, and compliance-oriented working style.
- Minimum Class 3 driving licence.
- Comfortable using digital tools and systems.
