Role overview
Manley is seeking a Senior Estimator to oversee quantity surveying and estimating activities for modular construction work in Drogheda, Ireland. The position involves leading the full estimating cycle, supporting cost control, and contributing to business growth through client and industry engagement.
Key duties
- Take ownership of the full quantity surveying and estimating workflow.
- Build precise and detailed cost estimates for modular construction projects.
- Review drawings, project specifications, and related documentation to prepare complete pricing submissions.
- Guide and support the Assistant Estimator in day-to-day work and professional development.
- Oversee project cost management throughout delivery and bidding stages.
- Help generate new business by engaging with industry contacts and prospective clients.
- Prepare monthly payment applications and cost reporting for active projects.
- Draft bid submissions and present pricing to management for evaluation.
- Track project costs during tendering to maintain competitive pricing.
- Keep estimation files, assumptions, and backup documents properly organised and accessible.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure reliable pricing inputs.
- Spot opportunities to reduce cost without affecting quality or safety.
- Support risk analysis and add contingency where appropriate.
- Stay updated on market conditions, emerging materials, and construction methods that may influence pricing.
Candidate profile
Applicants should hold a degree in quantity surveying or a related discipline and bring 5 to 7 years of estimating experience. Experience in modular construction is preferred, but substantial estimating experience within the wider construction sector is essential. The role also calls for strong organisation, sharp analytical ability, comfort with technical drawings and specifications, and the capacity to handle several projects at once. Candidates should be proficient with estimating tools and Microsoft Office applications, communicate effectively with suppliers, clients, and colleagues, and work well both independently and in a team setting. Knowledge of cost control methods is an advantage.
