About VetEvolve

VetEvolve is a multi-practice veterinary network created to back the people who provide care and the hospitals they lead. The organization blends clinical understanding with operational expertise so teams have the systems, support, and tools they need to succeed while preserving each practice’s individuality. Its growth strategy is intentional: to reinforce hospital performance, widen access to care, and open up more career opportunities for team members.

Working from the values Care First, Better Together, Grow Forward, and Own It, VetEvolve aims to build an environment where veterinary professionals can do excellent work, grow meaningful careers, and deliver strong care outcomes.

Role Summary

The Senior Director, Talent Acquisition is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for building and running a scalable field recruiting model that supports expansion, improves hospital performance, and helps position VetEvolve as a preferred employer. This role must move between long-term planning and day-to-day execution, with a strong focus on documenting processes, driving consistency, and delivering fast results.

This is a full-time, salaried remote position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create, document, and communicate a comprehensive field talent acquisition strategy that supports business goals and expected outcomes.
  • Work closely with the SVP of Operations, within the COO organization, to ensure field hiring priorities are handled with speed, quality, and consistency.
  • Align with the Chief People Officer so field recruiting reinforces the wider people and culture strategy.
  • Help shape the direction and priorities of field talent acquisition, including leadership accountability, financial stewardship, and executive communication.
  • Define the field TA operating model, including team structure, role clarity, budgets, and performance objectives.
  • Partner with HR and field leaders on workforce planning to anticipate and prioritize hiring needs.
  • Provide leadership with insights on hiring patterns, relief staffing partnerships, and spending efficiency.
  • Convert strategy into practical playbooks, tools, and repeatable workflows that support consistent execution.
  • Prepare clear, data-backed reports and presentations for senior leaders and the Board, covering results, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Identify capability, process, and technology gaps that could limit performance.
  • Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, quality-of-hire, relief spend, and student conversion, then adjust tactics accordingly.
  • Manage vendors, recruiting platforms, and outside resources to improve outcomes and control costs.
  • Adapt quickly when business needs change by reallocating strategy and resources as needed.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the field TA team to deliver with urgency, ownership, and excellence.
  • Set goals and management objectives for the team, review performance, and address gaps promptly.
  • Build a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with Field Operations so recruiting capacity matches practice demand, including relief coverage planning.
  • Design and launch recruiting campaigns for veterinary hospital roles.
  • Own planning, management, and delivery against the P&L.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders proactively to keep expectations, timelines, and outcomes aligned.
  • Partner with HR, Marketing, and Operations to strengthen employer branding and the candidate journey.
  • Support student programs by building pipelines through universities, externships, and professional networks.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of progressive leadership experience in talent acquisition, including 5+ years in senior roles across multiple functions.
  • 3+ years of experience in veterinary medicine is preferred.
  • Proven ability to scale recruiting operations in private equity-backed or fast-growing organizations.
  • Track record of building systems, teams, and processes that produce measurable results.
  • Strong capability in workforce planning, reporting, recruiting technology, and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, including preparation of board-level materials.
  • Ability to balance strategic design with direct execution.
  • Experience overseeing recruiting budgets, vendor relationships, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exposure to recruitment marketing, student pipelines, and campus-based programs is preferred.
  • Business travel is required as needed, estimated at about 25%.
