Overview
The Senior Director of Planning will be responsible for leading the planning efforts for both the Retrofête and Seroya brands. This role partners across multiple departments including Leadership, Merchandising, Production, Finance, Operations, and Sales to drive inventory strategies, forecasting, and overall business performance across all selling channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full planning function across wholesale, eCommerce, and retail for two brands, focusing on sales forecasting, inventory management, assortment planning, and open-to-buy strategies.
- Create and manage seasonal and annual financial plans aligned with growth targets, margins, and inventory goals.
- Optimize inventory to enhance sell-through rates, reduce markdowns, and maximize profitability.
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Buying, Design, and Production teams to ensure inventory aligns with product strategy and brand priorities.
- Advise on buy depth, category mix, size scaling, and inventory distribution to support product productivity and profitability.
- Use analysis of past performance and market trends to influence product assortment decisions.
- Identify whitespace and chase opportunities as well as mitigate inventory risks for both brands.
- Perform ongoing analysis weekly, monthly, and seasonally to evaluate risks and opportunities, providing actionable guidance to leadership.
- Develop and lead a refined Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process in partnership with the COO, aligning multiple departments around shared forecasts and operational plans.
- Translate market trends, sales data, and inventory metrics into actionable forecasts and operational strategies.
- Manage the monthly and quarterly forecasting cycles for both brands, ensuring inventory and financial objectives are synchronized.
- Coordinate with Operations and Production for inventory flow management, product launches, replenishments, and capacity planning.
- Build and maintain comprehensive KPI dashboards and reporting tools that track sales performance, inventory status, margins, and business trends.
- Provide regular (weekly, monthly, ad hoc) reports and business summaries to leadership.
- Analyze performance across categories, channels, customer segments, and product lifecycles to find growth areas and risks.
- Foster a decision-making culture that balances data analysis with brand insight and customer intuition.
- Act as a strategic partner to the COO and other leaders on broad business growth and operational strategies.
- Collaborate closely with Buying and Merchandising to balance brand vision with commercial priorities and inventory efficiency.
- Work with cross-functional teams including Production, Logistics, Retail, eCommerce, and Wholesale to ensure alignment on business goals.
- Support pricing, markdowns, and promotions through detailed margin, sell-through, and customer behavior evaluations.
- Lead and develop the planning team, enhancing processes and building analytical capabilities.
- Continuously improve planning procedures, tools, and reporting for scalability and operational excellence.
- Partner with Technology and Operations on optimizing ERP and inventory systems such as NetSuite and reporting solutions.
- Explore and implement emerging technologies including AI and automation to enhance forecasting accuracy and decision-making efficiency.
Qualifications
- Over 10 years of experience in planning, merchandising, or inventory management within contemporary, advanced contemporary, or luxury fashion sectors.
- Strong knowledge of wholesale, direct-to-consumer, and retail business models in high-growth fashion companies.
- Demonstrated leadership in forecasting, inventory strategy, and financial planning for multi-channel operations.
- Advanced analytical skills with excellent Excel proficiency; prior experience with NetSuite preferred.
- Capacity to work both strategically and hands-on within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and team development abilities with experience managing high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of inventory flow, margin control, and seasonal business cycles specific to fashion.
- Proven experience in implementing scalable planning frameworks, reporting structures, and operational improvements.
- Interest in adopting advanced technology and AI-based tools to modernize planning and forecasting.
