Overview
This Senior Director position based in Morristown, NJ offers a hybrid work model with three days onsite and two days remote. The role involves leading the company's sourcing strategy, procurement transformation, and supplier relationships in a complex industrial sector. The base salary ranges from $180,000 to $225,000, complemented by a 25% bonus. Immediate start is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commodity strategies spanning MRO, maintenance, chemicals, environmental and engineering services, equipment, and capital projects.
- Lead strategic sourcing processes including supplier selection, contract negotiations, and managing transitions.
- Drive initiatives to reduce costs, avoid expenses, consolidate suppliers, mitigate risks, and enhance procurement processes.
- Oversee strategic supplier relationships, ensuring vendors meet standards for cost, quality, safety, compliance, and service levels.
- Create and standardize procurement governance, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate across Operations, Finance, Engineering, Legal, Environmental, and Technology departments.
- Utilize spend analytics and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare senior-level presentations, business cases, and procurement reports.
- Manage procurement budgeting, savings reporting, and achievement of financial targets.
- Champion continuous improvement and lead change management initiatives across the enterprise.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of commodity managers and sourcing professionals.
- Influence senior leaders and foster alignment within a decentralized operating context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, Operations, or related disciplines; MBA is preferred.
- Over 20 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or commercial management roles.
- Minimum 10 years in commodity/category management or strategic sourcing leadership capacity.
- At least 10 years managing teams including senior procurement managers.
- Expertise in indirect procurement categories such as MRO, maintenance, environmental, engineering services, and capital projects.
- Track record of delivering strategic sourcing initiatives and quantifiable cost reduction.
- Experience developing procurement processes, governance frameworks, and operating models.
- Strong financial literacy including spend analytics, budgeting, and tracking savings.
- Familiarity with industries such as utilities, power generation, energy, chemicals, environmental services, oil and gas, or heavy industrial sectors is highly advantageous.
- ERP system proficiency required, preferably Oracle or NetSuite.
- Exceptional skills in communication, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and leading organizational change.
