Role Overview
The Senior Director, Global Distribution Management, based in Singapore and reporting to the SVP & GM of APAC, leads the development and execution of Valvoline's global distributor management strategy and Center of Excellence (COE). This position is pivotal in standardizing frameworks, tools, governance, and metrics to enhance distributor capabilities, performance, and profitability across regions including the Americas, Asia Pacific, and EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and continuously improve the global distributor management strategy, operational model, governance, and supporting tools such as selection criteria, capability models, scorecards, business planning tools, dashboards, and management processes to drive profitable growth.
- Lead creation of distributor programs, value propositions, and capacity enhancement initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams across sales, marketing, finance, IT, supply chain, operations, legal, HR, and regional commercial units to align objectives and deliver scalable solutions.
- Manage and develop regional distributor management teams, influence key stakeholders, and build a global community of practice to propagate best practices and consistent performance worldwide.
- Engage internally with global and regional commercial leadership and other functions, while externally liaising with distributors, channel partners, key customers, and market intelligence providers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, or related disciplines is required.
- Over 15 years of commercial experience preferably in automotive, lubricants, industrial, aftermarket, or similar B2B/B2B2C sectors.
- Minimum of 10 years managing distributor networks, indirect sales channels, channel strategies, or route-to-market models in a multinational context.
- Proven expertise in distributor selection, capability evaluation, channel segmentation, business planning, performance oversight, and partner development.
- Hands-on experience in developing distributor programs, RTM strategies, scorecards, incentive systems, and capacity-building frameworks.
- Demonstrable track record of accelerating revenue, market share, profitability, and distributor effectiveness.
- Leadership experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders within complex global matrix organizations.
Preferred Attributes
- Advanced business degree such as an MBA.
- Experience in designing and implementing global distributor management frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of the automotive aftermarket, lubricants, or industrial distribution sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen, strategic perspective, and relationship management aptitude.
- Capability to develop new tools, capabilities, and processes from inception.
- Excellent skills in influencing, negotiation, communication, and managing change.
- High cultural adaptability and experience leading across multiple geographic regions.
- Ability to interlink commercial strategy, distributor capabilities, analytics, and financial performance effectively.
Working Conditions and Travel
- Typically office-based in a corporate environment with collaborative spaces; hybrid or remote work options may be permitted following company policy.
- Coordination across global time zones may require flexible working hours.
- Business travel may constitute up to 50% of working time to support distributor engagement, market evaluations, and global initiatives.
