Overview
A partner company is seeking a Senior Director for Accounting & Controlling based in the United Kingdom. This leadership role involves heading a global accounting division within a dynamic, growth-oriented technology firm. The role offers a chance to oversee comprehensive accounting operations, including reporting, controls, policy implementation, and operational excellence across various countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end global accounting operations encompassing month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and policy adherence.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in line with applicable accounting frameworks, maintaining audit readiness and operational rigor.
- Design and expand a global accounting model that integrates personnel, procedures, systems, and international entities, covering payroll and treasury functions.
- Deliver expert advice on complex technical accounting topics including revenue recognition, commissions, equity management, payroll, intercompany dealings, currency transactions, and policy interpretation.
- Collaborate with commercial and operational divisions to craft pragmatic accounting solutions that facilitate growth while managing risks.
- Recruit, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing, geographically dispersed accounting team fostering ownership and development.
- Champion finance transformation projects by pursuing automation, AI-powered enhancements, and workflow optimizations to boost scalability and efficiency.
- Enhance control frameworks focusing on SOX readiness and contribute strategically to fundraising, mergers & acquisitions, and IPO preparations.
- Oversee external relationships with auditors, tax consultants, payroll vendors, and other strategic partners.
Requirements
- Over six years leading teams in accounting, controlling, or finance operations within complex global, multi-entity settings.
- Strong expertise in technical accounting involving revenue, commissions, equity, payroll, intercompany structures, and policy application.
- Experience in fast-growing technology or SaaS businesses with recurring revenue models.
- Proven leadership with a balance of strategic insight and hands-on technical judgment.
- Track record of building and guiding high-performing teams in remote or distributed environments.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalents are highly preferred.
- Familiarity with IFRS reporting, audit processes, fundraising, M&A, and IPO readiness is beneficial.
- Solid knowledge of global payroll, treasury, and multi-jurisdictional financial processes.
- Interest and experience in finance automation, AI integration, and process improvements leveraging technology.
- Preferred experience with ERP systems like NetSuite and strong systems-thinking capabilities.
- Adaptability to a globally distributed team, with willingness to start work early Eastern Time hours and effective asynchronous communication skills.
