Role Responsibilities

• Create and uphold both logical and physical data models, alongside database designs and master data standards to ensure data is optimally structured for operational and analytical utilization.
• Develop and maintain a consolidated, authoritative source for master data entities by designing governance hubs, setting survivorship rules, and resolving inconsistencies across systems to eliminate data silos.
• Implement operational management of critical data elements (CDEs) and product taxonomies by defining attribute rules, classification hierarchies, and standardizing value sets, ensuring uniform field usage across data models, pipelines, and reporting layers.
• Design and support master data workflows including canonical schemas, API contracts, and ETL/ELT pipeline specifications that serve both real-time operations and batch analytics functions.
• Ensure the availability of a reliable single view of master data, including golden record definitions and match-merge protocols, to aid accurate decision-making and business scalability.
• Identify and resolve data quality issues such as referential integrity breaches, schema shifts, duplication of entities, and inconsistencies, recommending effective measures to enhance data reliability, security, and user experience.
• Document data lineage from raw sources to governed models, maintain version control over data dictionaries and field mapping records.
• Facilitate data migration and system transition efforts by evaluating legacy datasets, detecting quality shortfalls, and mapping fields to target canonical data models.
• Collaborate intensively with data engineering, architecture, analytics, and product teams to harmonize master data principles and integrate requirements early in development phases to ensure consistent data provision.
• Conduct focused sessions with EDI leaders and subject matter experts to gather data needs, validate field definitions, and reconcile differing system interpretations.
• Communicate clear progress reports on data models, classification states, and domain coverage to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to foster shared data asset confidence.

Success Indicators

• Establishment of a unified master data source confirmed by reduced duplicate entity records and effective deployment of survivorship rules.
• Operational implementation of CDEs and product taxonomies reflected in at least one active data model or pipeline within six months.
• Consistent timely delivery of data model documentation facilitating at least one downstream model update quarterly with zero rework due to incomplete field definitions.
• Positive cross-functional feedback highlighting clarity, responsiveness, and quality of documentation and sessions.
