Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Data Protection & Privacy Specialist to lead and enhance our data protection and privacy governance efforts. This role necessitates managing daily privacy operations, performing risk evaluations related to personal data, reviewing systems that handle personal data, and aiding in the investigation and resolution of privacy-related complaints.

Core Responsibilities

  • Handle daily data protection operations, including managing complaints, conducting investigations, and addressing privacy queries.
  • Assess and monitor personal data management systems to ensure they meet lawful and best practice privacy standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments concerning personal data privacy and propose effective mitigation strategies.
  • Review requests involving processing sensitive or special-category personal data and provide management with well-founded recommendations.
  • Implement and support protocols for handling privacy complaints, conducting investigations, and managing incidents.
  • Support adherence to organizational policies and governing data protection laws.
  • Prepare detailed analyses, documentation, and guidance based on privacy assessments and investigative findings.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to foster privacy awareness and drive ongoing improvements in data protection.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in data protection, privacy, information security, cybersecurity, compliance, or similar areas.
  • Certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or equivalent data protection credentials are preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of data protection and privacy laws, principles, and governance frameworks.
  • Sound knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and blockchain, especially regarding their privacy implications.
  • Technical expertise in networking concepts, protocols, and security measures.
  • Proven ability to conduct privacy risk assessments and support compliance activities.
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellence in documenting and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to effectively engage stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities with attention to detail and professionalism.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is advantageous but not required.
