About the Role
The Senior Data Management Specialist at The Jed Foundation (JED) will oversee and enhance data collection and management processes for research, evaluation, and program data. Using the Qualtrics platform, the role involves creating and maintaining flexible survey tools, conducting quality assurance, generating data quality reports, and improving school and community program datasets. This position collaborates widely within JED to uphold exemplary data management practices and documentation supporting research programs and dissemination.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform finalized survey content into operational, user-friendly data collection instruments on Qualtrics, establishing flexible survey libraries with version controls.
- Manage user access rights with technology teams ensuring data privacy and integrity.
- Convert paper surveys into digital format while preserving content integrity and compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) standards.
- Perform rigorous quality assurance to guarantee reliable survey deployment and promptly resolve any Qualtrics system issues or partner inquiries.
- Collaborate to ensure accessibility and ADA compliance for all digital survey tools.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of Qualtrics infrastructure, bug tracking, key decisions, and access protocols.
- Monitor and improve data quality through routine management, report generation, data cleaning, and audits in collaboration with analytics colleagues.
- Streamline data collection processes to reduce redundancies across datasets and systems.
- Uphold compliance with data protection laws and ethical standards, developing policies to preserve confidentiality and data integrity.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- Master's degree in quantitative behavioral sciences, statistics, public health, or closely related disciplines with substantial training in data collection and management.
- Extensive experience with scalable research data collection tools, preferably with Qualtrics, including library management, access coordination, and quality assurance implementation.
- Proven capacity to manage multiple research evaluation data streams concurrently.
- Strong skills in documentation such as creating codebooks and survey crosswalks, and implementing coding protocols.
- Proficiency with data management and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, Python) to perform data quality reporting, cleaning, and improvement.
- Familiarity with data protection and IRB compliance standards.
- Interest or experience in advanced data warehouse technologies like Snowflake.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
Salary and Location Details
The annual salary range is $105,000 to $135,000 for the New York City market, with geographic adjustments for other locations. Base salary is influenced by local living costs and applicants’ qualifications. Occasional travel for meetings or events in NYC or other designated locations is expected.

- Work is primarily remote with periodic hybrid engagements.
