Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Credit Manager specializing in Structured Trade Finance to oversee and manage credit risks within our Structured Trade Finance and Corporate Lending portfolios. This critical role involves independent evaluation of trade finance credit proposals, encompassing the entire product suite, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee credit risks linked to the Bank's Structured Trade Finance and Corporate Lending portfolios.
  • Conduct independent assessments of trade finance credit proposals across all product offerings.
  • Analyze counterparty creditworthiness, rationale for trade flows, underlying transaction commerciality, repayment methods, facility structuring, covenants, collateral coverage, and risk-adjusted pricing.
  • Deliver impartial risk opinions on credit proposals before approval and evaluate whether transaction economics and risk-return profiles are justified.
  • Continuously monitor trade finance exposures.
  • Ensure that trade finance operations comply fully with MAS regulations.
  • Produce detailed, high-quality written credit analyses highlighting key risks and mitigation strategies, and provide well-supported recommendations to approving authorities.
  • Review financial statements, perform financial spreading, analyze cash flow projections, and examine complex trade finance structures.
  • Validate Rating Model inputs for consistency, accuracy, and suitability, including transaction-specific risk aspects.
  • Confirm credit exposure stays within the Bank's policies, sector limits, and trade finance risk appetite.
  • Lead periodic reviews of credit policies, sector exposures (including commodities), and conduct thematic stress tests such as examining price volatility and counterparty risk.
  • Track developments in Watchlist accounts and evaluate Expected Credit Losses.
  • Identify early warning signs like market volatility and structural weaknesses, recommend remediation actions, and monitor any worsening in trade transaction performance or collateral deficits.
  • Support other central Credit Risk Management functions, including portfolio data analysis and special projects like system upgrades and dashboard creation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A recognized university degree with 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in trade finance banking.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical abilities, with special focus on structured lending and collateralized financing.
  • Effective communication, writing, and presentation skills essential for this role.
