Job description
Role overview
This project brings experienced management consultants into the development of AI training environments. The work is centered on turning genuine consulting engagements into structured learning and evaluation material for advanced AI systems. The broader initiative is led by an AI data partner that has been supporting frontier model post-training since 2014 through domain-specific environments, task design, and evaluation frameworks created by real experts.
The team is building a management consulting domain that captures how strategy work is actually done: framing ambiguous problems, planning the work, analyzing complex inputs, synthesizing findings, and preparing recommendations a client could use.
You will work with other consultants from leading strategy firms to help define how AI systems should learn high-level business reasoning.
Who this opportunity is for
This opening is only meant for consultants with direct experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm. Applicants without hands-on project experience at one of the approved firms should not apply, as the domain is intended to be built by practitioners who have been trained in rigorous problem solving and client delivery.
Eligible firms include McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger, Monitor Deloitte (Deloitte S&C), EY-Parthenon, Kearney, and Strategy& (PwC).
What you will do
- Create realistic consulting project environments that reflect actual engagement conditions, including sector context, financial details, constraints, conflicting inputs, and incomplete information.
- Design structured tasks for AI agents that reflect typical consulting work such as market sizing, commercial due diligence, cost reduction, growth strategy, operational diagnosis, benchmarking, and related analyses.
- Develop evaluation standards, grading rubrics, and gold-standard answers for each task so an LLM-based grading system can be trained and calibrated to assess AI outputs at scale.
This is a remote, project-based role for an individual contributor focused on analytical design and evaluation.
Experience and skills needed
We are looking for consultants with at least 3 years of experience at one of the approved firms listed above and direct project experience that includes:
- Breaking down unclear client problems into practical analytical workplans.
- Creating financial models, market analyses, or synthesized conclusions from incomplete and messy information.
- Delivering client-ready materials under tight deadlines.
- Building and defending recommendations in situations where certainty is limited.
No advanced technical background is required; the tools involved are light and onboarding will be provided.
Additional requirements
- Strong, structured problem-solving and hypothesis-led thinking.
- Comfort translating vague business questions into concrete analytical steps and deliverables.
- Very high standards for logical consistency and output quality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Clear written English at B2 level or above.
Compensation
Contributors may earn up to the equivalent of $60 per hour, depending on experience and contribution speed.
Pay can differ from project to project based on scope, complexity, and the expertise needed. Other assignments may have different earning levels.
