Job description
About the team
KPMG’s Deal Advisory and Infrastructure group is among the most established and high-performing teams in Australia, known for handling a large volume of successful deals across many industries. The team advises clients on the commercial, financial, transaction-management and strategic aspects of major infrastructure programs, with a strong understanding of the challenges that arise across the full project lifecycle. The Financial Modelling team brings together financial insight and technical capability to build reliable, best-practice models that support project analysis and decision-making.
Your opportunity
As a Senior Consultant in Financial Modelling, you will deepen your expertise across complex greenfield projects, project finance and M&A transactions. You will work alongside highly experienced modellers, gain exposure to major engagements, and contribute to high-profile assignments in Australia and internationally.
Key responsibilities
- Create high-quality financial models for stages such as pre-bid, bid and post-bid work.
- Assess and review models used for some of the largest and most visible transactions locally and overseas.
- Work with clients from a variety of sectors, including infrastructure and the energy transition.
- Lead client workstreams or smaller engagements, while coaching junior team members and client-side resources.
- Deliver financial analysis that helps explain and interpret model outputs on major projects.
- Contribute to a flexible operating model that includes working from home, the office and client hubs.
What makes you stand out
- You are motivated by delivering best-practice modelling support to clients.
- You are interested in using data, analytics and technology to improve how projects and M&A deals are modelled, planned, procured, delivered and managed.
- You approach complex financial problems in a structured, practical way and can turn analysis into useful client insight.
Experience and skills
- Strong capability in Microsoft Excel.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- High numerical fluency and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, performance-driven team.
- Hands-on experience building robust Excel financial models from the ground up is preferred.
- Experience in Big 4 audit or advisory roles is desirable.
- Background in consulting is an advantage.
Qualifications
A degree in a numerate discipline such as commerce, econometrics, accounting or engineering is required.
