Job description

Role Overview

The Senior Compliance Officer will help build, roll out, and maintain the company’s compliance framework, making sure policies and procedures are in place to reduce the risk of unlawful, unethical, or inappropriate conduct.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, launch, and upkeep of compliance policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Work with teams such as Internal Audit and GHRD to collect and review information related to compliance concerns and escalate relevant matters to the SCO.
  • Assist the SCO in looking into suspected breaches of rules, regulations, company policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct.
  • Track, evaluate, and follow up on compliance issues to ensure they are being handled by the appropriate managers and employees.
  • Identify possible compliance risks and weak points, and report them to the SCO.
  • Monitor corrective action plans recommended by the SCO to ensure issues are resolved properly.
  • Prepare regular status updates on compliance activities and progress for the SCO.
  • Ensure any actual or potential violations are reported appropriately to the SCO.
  • Oversee the organization’s compliance hotline.
  • Help run compliance communication initiatives, including encouraging hotline usage, building awareness of the Code of Conduct, and explaining new and existing compliance policies and procedures.
  • Carry out compliance assessments by reviewing adherence to laws, internal policies, and the Code of Conduct.
  • Review all relevant internal and external compliance reports and findings.
  • Support compliance training and awareness programs.
  • Contribute practical and innovative solutions that improve processes and support mindset change across functions.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Management, Business Administration, or BCL is required.
  • A professional certification in corporate and regulatory compliance from a recognized awarding body is preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience is required, including at least 2 years in a similar organization such as ABA.
  • Strong command of both English and Arabic, spoken and written, is necessary.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and a thorough working style are essential.
  • Interest in industry bodies and willingness to contribute knowledge is expected.
  • Strong drafting ability and the skill to convert business processes into legally sound documents are needed.
  • Comfortable interacting with senior executives.
  • Capable of planning work independently, meeting deadlines, and delivering outputs on time.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional, diplomatic, cordial, and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to influence others and build strong working relationships at all levels.
  • Confident in conducting meetings and presentations.
  • Able to produce high-quality written communication materials.
