Senior Commissioning Engineer - Subsea Electrical (Umbilical / HV Power Cable)

Overview

This position is for a Senior Commissioning Engineer specializing in subsea electrical systems, particularly Umbilical and High Voltage (HV) Power Cables. The role is based in Doha, Qatar, on a contract basis with onsite work requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of electrical subsea systems, including defining and reviewing methodologies to identify and represent electrical system boundaries for effective project segmentation and execution planning.
• Manage and perform high voltage subsea cable system testing, covering HV cables, cable joints, and terminations, as well as testing of HV and LV umbilical termination units and topside umbilical termination units.
• Apply extensive expertise in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and energization of electrical substation equipment across voltage levels (132 kV GIS, HV Transformers, HV Reactors, 33 kV, 6.6 kV, and LV switchgear systems), including protection relays, Variable Speed Drives (VSD), ENMCS, and developing HV switching programs.
• Define and implement integration requirements for HV power cables and umbilicals, including fiber optic cables used for SCADA communication, to ensure efficient electrical power supply transmission from onshore to offshore facilities.
• Oversee vendor management by reviewing technical deliverables, datasheets, and procurement specifications related to HV subsea cables and umbilicals and represent the company during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Demonstrate proven offshore experience, including relevant skills, knowledge, and operational practices on marine platforms.
