Job description
Role overview
Qatar Airways is looking for a Senior Cargo Operations Agent for its Dammam station in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This position sits within the Cargo & Airport Operations function and focuses on both operational execution and customer service across import and export cargo movements.
The selected candidate will work closely with customers and ground handling agents to support daily cargo handling activity, strengthen station performance, and help the team achieve cargo targets. The role also requires consistent adherence to all applicable safety, security, host-country, and company procedures.
Key duties
- Assist the line supervisor in shaping operational plans, delivering strong customer service, and supporting revenue performance.
- Coordinate with local ground handling agents and the head office cargo team to maintain and improve service quality for import and export operations.
- Monitor GHA activities to help ensure cargo processes run efficiently and without interruption.
- Help import customers with cargo clearance requirements.
- Work with HQ Doha and/or origin stations when additional support is needed.
- Handle flight planning and space control to maximize aircraft capacity, manage import and export operations, and ensure shipments are prioritized, transferred, and delivered on time.
- Liaise with customers and cargo claims representatives at head office, and manage discrepancies and administrative matters affecting stations.
- Share cargo-related updates with customers and internal teams, including customs, government, and health authority requirements, to support compliance and reduce the risk of penalties or destruction.
- Make sure cargo arrival notices are formally issued to freight forwarders, agents, and direct customers so goods do not remain in airline custody for too long and warehouse space remains available.
Candidate profile
- A vocational, tertiary, or trade qualification is required, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of cargo operations, including acceptance, office administration, warehouse handling, ramp processes, and export/import cargo procedures, is expected.
- Prior exposure to cargo sales will be considered an advantage.
- Strong command of English is necessary for this role.
