About the Role

This is a senior procurement position based in Frankfurt, Germany, supporting major construction and engineering programmes across Germany and Europe. The role sits within the Procurement Team and focuses on strengthening sourcing strategy, supplier performance, commercial outcomes, and supply chain resilience. You will work closely with colleagues in project delivery, engineering, planning, finance, logistics, and operations to make sure procurement activity supports wider business and project goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and roll out sourcing approaches that match business priorities.
  • Shortlist and assess suppliers using criteria such as price, quality, delivery performance, and risk exposure.
  • Run competitive tender exercises, including RFQs and RFPs.
  • Review market conditions and supplier capabilities to inform buying decisions.
  • Lead sourcing activities that deliver sustained business value.
  • Develop and maintain productive supplier partnerships across several categories.
  • Carry out supplier performance reviews covering quality, timeliness, cost, and service.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, commercial terms, and service arrangements.
  • Handle supplier issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Grow and reinforce the approved supplier base.
  • Prepare, review, and manage procurement contracts and contract changes.
  • Make sure suppliers meet contractual requirements and internal procedures.
  • Support contract renewals and commercial renegotiations.
  • Assist with commercial reviews and procurement governance tasks.
  • Identify cost reduction and value improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor savings, cost avoidance, and budget compliance.
  • Support total cost of ownership analysis and hire-versus-buy assessments.
  • Contribute to commercial performance reporting.
  • Manage purchase orders and supplier delivery performance.
  • Support routine procurement activity across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with logistics, planning, and project teams.
  • Escalate and resolve supply chain disruptions or shortages.
  • Ensure goods and services are purchased on time.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Planning, Finance, and Project teams to align procurement with delivery needs.
  • Translate business requirements into effective procurement solutions.
  • Act as a trusted internal procurement advisor.
  • Support procurement planning throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure procurement activity follows company processes and legal obligations.
  • Identify and reduce supply chain risks.
  • Support audits and maintain accurate procurement records.
  • Promote strong procurement practices across the business.
  • Coach and support Buyers and Junior Buyers.
  • Review and approve purchases within delegated authority.
  • Support process improvement and procurement excellence initiatives.
  • Take on other duties as needed by management.

Requirements

  • Solid background in a Senior Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or Strategic Sourcing position.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, or other technical environments.
  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
  • Hands-on experience managing suppliers and procurement contracts.
  • Clear evidence of delivering savings and procurement value improvements.
  • Good stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving project setting.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and procurement software/systems.
  • Experience in large project environments is a strong advantage.
  • English fluency is required; German language skills are helpful.
