Role overview

This contract opportunity is for a Senior Business Support Analyst based in a hybrid work setup in Atlanta, GA. The role centers on delivering financial, operational, and business analysis support for large engineering and construction programs. It involves budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, reporting, and performance analysis, along with close collaboration across teams to improve decisions through analytics and reporting.

The position is suited to someone who can translate complex financial and operational information into clear insights for leadership. It also includes supporting process improvements, automation efforts, and executive reporting.

Compensation is listed at $45 to $60 per hour, and benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain capital budgets and financial forecasts for engineering and construction project portfolios.
  • Review financial and operational data to spot trends, estimate outcomes, and turn findings into practical business recommendations.
  • Carry out variance analysis and produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting with supporting explanations.
  • Assess project spending, identify areas for cost reduction, and share recommendations with leadership.
  • Define KPIs and reporting measures to track overall business performance.
  • Prepare executive-ready reports and presentations covering financial results, production metrics, and project updates.
  • Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting tools in Power BI.
  • Use SQL, Python, and related analytical tools to work with large datasets and support operational decisions.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, resource forecasting, and operational modeling work.
  • Support departmental budgeting and expense forecasting.
  • Develop charts, dashboards, and visual reports that clearly present financial and operational performance.
  • Work with finance, engineering, construction, and business partners to improve reporting workflows and resolve data problems.
  • Handle ad hoc financial and operational analysis for strategic initiatives.
  • Help strengthen reporting standards, analytics maturity, and scalable business intelligence processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, project controls, engineering support, business analytics, or a closely related area.
  • Prior exposure to capital projects or infrastructure programs is strongly preferred.
  • Background in utilities, energy, infrastructure, industrial construction, or other large capital project environments is an advantage.
  • Advanced Excel capability.
  • Solid experience with financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Experience creating Power BI dashboards, data models, and executive reporting outputs.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent organization and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and executive leaders.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience with enterprise ERP and financial management systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Databricks or cloud-based data environments is preferred.
  • Advanced Power BI development and performance tuning are preferred.
  • SQL and/or Python skills for analysis and reporting automation are preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate is preferred.
  • Knowledge of project controls, capital project reporting, or infrastructure analytics is preferred.
  • Applicants should be comfortable with occasional extended hours to meet important reporting deadlines, budgeting cycles, or major business initiatives.
