Role and Location Details
The position is for a Business Analyst in the Mid-market & Supply Chain Finance department, based in Chennai. Eligible candidates should hold a Masters degree in Finance and possess 3 to 4 years of relevant experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct credit risk research and analysis for Mid-Market cases by leveraging due diligence, external agencies, and coordination with sales and risk teams.
- Evaluate credit histories to approve or reject credit extensions for commercial clients.
- Manage portfolio housekeeping ensuring timely renewals and monitoring days past due (DPD).
- Prepare sanction proposals and collaborate closely with sales and risk teams to maintain quick turnaround times.
- Establish and nurture positive relationships with dealers, commercial customers, and sales personnel.
- Make informed credit decisions for complex commercial financing requests.
- Provide guidance to junior credit analysts concerning credit policies and underwriting.
Credit Analysis Specific Activities
- Assess credit applications to measure associated risk levels.
- Make credit approval or denial decisions following internal policies.
- Analyze financial documents such as financial statements, collateral evaluations, debt servicing capacity, and cash flows.
- Prepare and underwrite finance proposals ensuring policy compliance.
- Adapt underwriting approaches to reflect industry, policy, and market changes.
- Support faster loan closures through active involvement in deal structuring and credit enhancements.
- Maintain target turnaround times via collaboration among sales, risk, and operations teams.
- Conduct client discussions when required during loan underwriting.
- Coordinate with sales and documentation teams to ensure thorough and accurate loan paperwork.
- Work with risk and legal departments on exceptions and non-standard documentation.
Sales Support Responsibilities
- Maintain ongoing communication with current clients regarding collateral status and credit utilization.
- Participate with sales in client meetings to assist with negotiations and deal structuring.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build effective relationships with marketing and sales staff to facilitate risk-minimized loan structuring and closures.
- Collaborate closely with sales teams to achieve balanced sales and credit quality targets.
- Challenge high-risk business cases promptly.
- Work jointly with risk and operations teams to enable swift processing for straightforward cases.
- Engage certified public accountants for compliance training and support.
- Coordinate with external agencies for reports, credit ratings, and verifications concerning current and prospective clients.
Post-Sanction Monitoring
- Review transactions, financial statements, business bureaus, security documents, and credit payment histories for existing clients.
- Conduct routine and ad hoc portfolio reviews to ensure adherence to loan terms and financial covenants.
Credit Team Development
- Assist in onboarding and training new credit analysts and officers.
- Review work of junior credit associates providing higher-level approvals when necessary.
- Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert within the credit analysis team.
