Job description
About the company
Datacom brings together people and technology to tackle problems, open up new opportunities, and create better outcomes for the communities it serves.
The team
You will join the Software Engineering team, which supports the digital technology solutions used by Datacom’s clients. The group includes a healthy mix of senior and junior people, and the culture encourages everyone to show up authentically, enjoy the work, and bring a positive attitude.
Role overview
Datacom is seeking experienced Business Analysts at intermediate and senior level to work closely with a dedicated customer and drive outcomes. This position calls for strong business analysis capability, SDLC knowledge, and the confidence to shape decisions across software engineering and digital delivery.
In this role, you may lead several platform and application development teams, coordinate team ceremonies, track delivery progress, and work with a Delivery Manager to monitor performance. You will also partner with subject matter experts to remove blockers and manage dependencies across teams.
Key work
- Lead and coordinate requirements discovery activities.
- Plan and run requirements workshops.
- Develop user personas and map user journeys.
- Prepare delivery artefacts such as use cases, user stories, prototypes, wireframes, proposals, and strategy documents.
- Work closely with Product Management and Product Ownership to keep backlogs valuable, prioritised, and well maintained.
- Help drive change that improves team performance while keeping a sustainable pace.
- Encourage a culture of openness, trust, respect, shared decision-making, and healthy conflict resolution.
- Support teams with a servant-leadership approach and lead by example.
- Facilitate daily stand-ups, estimation sessions, sprint and release planning, demos, and other team meetings.
What matters for success
This position suits someone who is committed to agile ways of working and enjoys improving customer experience on technically led projects. Strong stakeholder communication is essential, especially when eliciting needs and identifying ways to improve business outcomes.
Your background
- Experience as a Business Analyst on enterprise-level projects.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and improve team performance.
- Either a development background or practical understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with Agile and Scrum practices.
- Scrum Master experience is an advantage.
