Job description
About Kick
Kick is a global live-streaming platform built for all forms of entertainment. Its goal is to help creators, event organisers, and content rights holders earn more and grow their audiences through better tools and revenue-sharing models. The platform is expanding quickly across the world and has already become one of the leading names in live streaming, alongside major players such as YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch. In just three years, it has made a major mark and is still in an early, high-growth phase.
About Engineering at Kick
Working here means joining at a rare moment in the company’s journey. The business is scaling rapidly while also building new capabilities and improving existing systems, which creates a mix of startup-style energy and scale-up complexity. Engineers are trusted with important, difficult problems and are expected to own what they build end to end. The work touches products used by millions every day, with opportunities both to launch new services and to strengthen systems already in production.
The engineering culture places strong emphasis on continuous learning, technical excellence, and raising the bar for software design and delivery. Growth, mastery, and high standards are central to the way the team works.
About the Team
The Platform-Trust team focuses on building real-time systems at large scale to identify and stop fraud and abuse. The work involves low-latency pipelines, distributed architectures, and other high-impact technical problems that affect millions of users. The role suits someone who enjoys data-heavy, adversarial challenges and wants meaningful ownership in a fast-moving environment.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build scalable, high-performance software that meets project goals and internal standards.
- Improve existing services for speed, scale, and reliability by finding and fixing bottlenecks and weak points.
- Write production-quality code with a focus on maintainability, performance, and long-term stability.
- Work closely with product managers, stakeholders, and engineering peers to explain technical ideas clearly.
- Contribute fresh ideas and help drive improvements that strengthen team effectiveness and output.
- Support and mentor junior engineers through guidance and technical leadership.
What We’re Looking For
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 6–7 years of practical software engineering experience with a focus on scalable systems.
- Strong ability with more than one programming language and framework relevant to the role, especially Go and PHP.
- Solid understanding of software architecture and design fundamentals.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work well across teams and with stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies and grow into broader full-stack capability.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Preferred Background
- Exposure to internet fraud and abuse patterns, including botting and incentive/disincentive mechanisms.
- Interest in or familiarity with streaming culture and live-streaming platforms.
- Experience building web applications.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging production systems.
Perks and Benefits
- A culture that champions engineering excellence and helps shape positive change across the organisation.
- Opportunity to work with a cloud-native stack including AWS, microservices, large-scale distributed systems, Kubernetes, Go, Terraform, data pipelines, and edge computing.
- Exposure to products operating at very high throughput, handling thousands of events per second.
- EAP support for you and your family.
- Access to more than 9,000 learning and development courses.
- On-site barista service providing coffee, tea, and fresh juices.
- Daily catered breakfast.
- Massage Wednesdays.
- Team lunches and Friday happy hour from 4 pm in the office.
- Office amenities including pool tables, table tennis, and gaming consoles.
- A paid volunteer day.
- An office-first setup with flexible start and finish times.
- Unlimited drinks and snacks.
