Senior Associate, Domain Expert - Eastern Europe

Role overview

Dataminr is looking for a Domain Expert to strengthen the quality of its real-time AI alerts and intelligence. In this position, you will use subject-matter knowledge to review live data, interpret signals, and refine annotations so the platform can produce more accurate and useful outputs. Your work will directly support model training, the human-AI feedback loop, and the ongoing improvement of Dataminr’s intelligence platform.

The role focuses on Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Russian geopolitical developments, along with the source landscape and datasets tied to these regions. You will help identify ways to improve alert quality, expand data source coverage, and enhance machine learning models and tooling.

Work arrangement and schedule

This position can be based remotely in the United Kingdom or Ireland, or worked in a hybrid setup. It requires availability during core hours of 7:00 am to 3:00 pm GMT in a live information environment. The role also involves rotating weekend coverage, plus some projects and meetings outside normal business hours.

Key responsibilities

You will monitor data feeds, assess their quality, and make fast decisions on complex events even when the available information is incomplete. The work includes real-time annotation and labeling, collaborating closely with teammates on daily priorities, and leading projects that improve the performance of AI models and supporting tools for event detection.

What you need to bring

The company is looking for someone with strong research ability, solid knowledge of geopolitical risk and world events, and confidence working with Russian and English in a fast-moving environment. Experience with Ukrainian, Belarusian, or other Slavic languages is an advantage. You should also be comfortable using AI tools and LLMs to improve workflows and solve problems, and be able to explain complicated ongoing situations clearly and concisely.

A bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for studies in political science, Russian language studies, Eastern Europe studies, security or conflict studies, or a related discipline. Prior experience in a real-time information setting is preferred.
