Al-Ansari & Associates is a well-established legal firm in Qatar with notable expertise in local legislation and extensive legal advisory services. Operating out of Doha and maintaining partnerships throughout the Middle East and Europe, the firm delivers practical and economical solutions in areas including Litigation, Business Law, Banking and Finance, Construction, Corporate Law, Technology, Media and Telecommunications, and Intellectual Property. The firm’s strength is underpinned by a diverse and high-quality team of legal professionals, creating a multicultural environment that combines local insight with international experience to serve clients effectively in Qatar and globally.

Role Overview

The Senior Arbitration Counsel will spearhead and handle intricate arbitration cases from inception through to award issuance and enforcement. Key responsibilities encompass drafting and scrutinizing arbitration clauses, pleadings, submissions, and procedural documents; providing clients with strategic advice on risk and settlement; and coordinating with both local and global legal counsel and experts. The role requires active representation in arbitral hearings, witness preparation, evidence management, and adherence to relevant institutional rules and Qatari legal statutes. Additionally, mentoring junior attorneys, contributing to business growth, and advancing the arbitration practice in sectors such as construction, banking, finance, and corporate disputes are essential. This position is full-time and based onsite in Lusail, fostering close collaboration with colleagues and clients.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Proven specialization in international and domestic arbitration, including case handling, drafting of submissions, and tribunal advocacy.
  • Extensive experience in commercial and construction dispute resolution, particularly in banking, finance, corporate, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Qatari law and familiarity with leading arbitration frameworks such as ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, and QICCA.
  • Exceptional legal drafting, analytical reasoning, and research capabilities with high attention to accuracy and sound decision-making.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously, lead legal teams, and mentor junior lawyers within a multicultural setting.
  • Strong skills in client relationship management and communication, capable of clearly clarifying intricate legal concepts to varied audiences.
  • Fluent command of English; proficiency in Arabic is an added advantage.
  • LLB or an equivalent law degree from a reputable university; advanced qualifications in arbitration or international dispute resolution are preferred.
  • Admission to legal practice in a recognized jurisdiction with significant post-qualification arbitration experience at a reputable law firm or institution.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, cultural awareness, and team-oriented collaboration.
