About the organisation
WhiteLight AML is a specialist outsourcing and advisory firm focused on AML/CTF services. The business supports leading accounting practices, law firms, wealth managers and property groups across Australia.
As the company expands nationally, it is looking for experienced AML Specialists and Senior AML Specialists to contribute to complex entity onboarding, enhanced due diligence work and AML remediation programs across a broad client base.
Role purpose
This position handles sophisticated AML and customer due diligence matters involving higher-risk customers and complex ownership structures. It also functions as a senior point of escalation within the AML Operations team while helping deliver day-to-day work and supporting junior team members.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out detailed Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence reviews for complex cases.
- Assess trusts, companies and partnership structures with multiple layers.
- Determine beneficial ownership and control across intricate entity arrangements.
- Review elevated-risk customers, including offshore entities and complicated ownership models.
- Evaluate source of wealth and source of funds information.
- Handle escalated onboarding cases and remediation activities.
- Examine adverse media, sanctions and politically exposed person matches.
- Investigate unusual situations and help with suspicious matter escalation.
- Offer technical AML advice across onboarding and remediation workflows.
- Serve as a quality assurance and escalation resource for junior analysts.
- Contribute to large remediation efforts and Tranche 2 implementation work.
- Partner with Compliance Officers and AML Consultants to support operational delivery.
Stakeholder management
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, Compliance Officers and senior stakeholders.
- Provide practical AML guidance on operational matters.
- Support client workshops, operational assessments and remediation planning.
- Help communicate complex onboarding requirements and escalation points to stakeholders.
Leadership and mentoring
- Coach AML Analysts and KYC Analysts with technical support and guidance.
- Help lift capability across the wider AML Operations team.
- Assist with onboarding and training new joiners.
- Contribute to a strong AML-focused operational culture.
Risk and compliance
- Apply sound risk-based judgement across all AML activities.
- Ensure processes remain aligned with AML/CTF legislation and internal standards.
- Spot emerging risk patterns and gaps in operational controls.
- Support quality assurance and governance activities.
- Assist with suspicious matter assessments and escalation where needed.
Experience and background
- At least 4 years of experience in AML, KYC or financial crime work.
- Strong exposure to trusts, companies and multi-layered entity structures.
- Hands-on experience with enhanced due diligence and high-risk client reviews.
- Solid understanding of AML/CTF obligations and risk frameworks.
- Strong investigation and analytical capability.
- Comfortable engaging directly with clients and stakeholders.
- Background in banking, consulting, professional services or AML outsourcing is preferred.
- Experience with First AML, LexisNexis, Refinitiv, WorldCheck or similar tools is an advantage.
