Job description
Role overview
As a Senior Airport Emergency Officer, your primary purpose is to protect lives and limit damage to property during airport emergencies. You will apply advanced aviation firefighting knowledge as part of a specialist response team, carrying out rescue and firefighting duties when incidents occur.
The position also includes leading a team of firefighters, directing command-and-control actions at aircraft accident or incident scenes, and helping coordinate responses across multiple agencies during emergency situations. In normal operations, you will help shape the direction of your unit and support the training and development of team members.
Training pathway
To prepare you for the role, a structured training sequence is provided:
- A 3-month Basic Airport Fire Fighter training programme covering firefighting fundamentals and the techniques needed to respond to aircraft incidents or accidents in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
- A 1-month Airport Fire Officer course designed to strengthen leadership for small-team tactics.
- A 1-month Senior Airport Fire Officer course focused on developing incident-management leadership capabilities.
Posting and rotation
After training, you will be stationed at an airport fire station to apply your technical skills and build operational experience. As part of rotation requirements, you may also be deployed to other airport fire stations or military airbases, allowing you to gain exposure to a wider range of duties and environments.
Candidate profile
We are looking for individuals who are genuinely interested in rescue work, comfortable with the physical demands of the job, resilient when faced with difficult situations, and able to lead and work well with others. A degree in any discipline from a reputable university is expected.
Ideal fit
This opportunity suits people who are motivated by emergency response work and who can combine physical endurance, determination, leadership, and strong interpersonal ability in a high-pressure operational setting.
