Job description
Role Overview
Join the Ministry of Justice in Wellington as a Senior Advisor within the Strategic Planning and Assurance Unit of the Policy Group. This permanent full-time position focuses on overseeing and integrating strategic planning, regulatory stewardship, and inquiry responses, including managing associated risks and issues.
Key Duties
- Coordinate and advise on managing inquiries with attention to material risks and issues.
- Support policy work programme planning and prioritisation within the Policy Group.
- Implement and embed robust stewardship across regulatory systems.
- Contribute to strategic coordination of responses to Waitangi Tribunal inquiries.
- Engage respectfully on sensitive matters, building trust across diverse relationships involving Māori-Crown interactions.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and assurance functions.
- Strong understanding of Treaty of Waitangi and Māori–Crown relationships principles.
- Sound judgment and capacity to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is between NZD 112,766 and NZD 145,388 annually, depending on candidate skills and experience.
