This position supports the council’s responsibilities under the Local Government Official Information Act (LGOIMA) and the Privacy Act, while helping strengthen openness, accountability, and informed public participation in local government decision-making.
In this role, you will work across the organisation to support the proper release of official information, provide guidance on privacy and information-handling obligations, and help improve awareness of these responsibilities throughout council.
Key work areas

- Prepare and draft responses to information requests.
- Advise on the correct application of official information and privacy rules and good practice.

What the role needs from you
This opportunity will suit someone with experience managing requests for information and a strong focus on policy, process, and best-practice decision-making around release of official information. It may also appeal to candidates with a solid understanding of government systems and experience in ministerial services or a comparable environment.
You’ll need to recognise the importance of identifying the right information and releasing it appropriately, along with strong attention to detail.
