About the Position
We are seeking a Senior Advisor in Health and Safety for the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand who will play a pivotal role in advancing proactive, risk-based health, safety, and wellbeing practices within the organisation. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the safety landscape and foster a robust safety culture.
Key Duties
- Deliver strategic and evidence-based advice on all health and safety matters.
- Coach, influence, and provide constructive challenge to leaders to improve health and safety capabilities and responsibilities.
- Lead or support the design, implementation, and assessment of strategic health and safety initiatives aligned with organisational goals.
- Oversee incident investigation management processes.
- Utilise data analysis and reporting to drive informed decision-making and cultural transformation.
- Conduct workshops, training sessions, and communications to engage staff and build health and safety expertise across all levels.
Candidate Profile
- Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand's health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Proven experience influencing and coaching leaders, including navigating complex or sensitive topics, to achieve sustainable health and safety improvements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a history of developing and maintaining trusted relationships.
- Experience in designing or enhancing health and safety management systems in sizeable or complex organisational settings.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and coaching abilities.
- Holds a full New Zealand driver's licence.
- At least five years of health and safety experience, including a minimum of two years in a senior advisory role.
- Possession of tertiary or postgraduate health and safety qualifications is preferred.

Additional Information
This role is based in Christchurch or Queenstown. Salary ranges from $115,536 to $141,751 annually, determined based on skills, experience, and internal benchmarks.
