Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough scientific evaluations of veterinary medicines and agricultural compounds.
- Implement risk management using the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) Act framework.
- Produce well-researched regulatory reports and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Deliver clear and timely antimicrobial resistance regulatory guidance across MPI.
- Detect emerging AMR threats and support the development of future regulatory strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Hold a relevant science degree in veterinary, agricultural, biological, or chemical sciences.
- Possess experience evaluating veterinary medicines or similarly regulated products.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills in assessing scientific data within regulatory contexts.
- Exhibit excellent technical writing and communication abilities.
- Show a collaborative mindset with a commitment to antimicrobial resistance risk management.
About MPI and the Team
You will be part of the Assessments team within the ACVM group at New Zealand Food Safety. This team consists of expert advisers who focus on veterinary medicines, agricultural compounds, and AMR regulation, working closely across MPI, industry, and international agencies to maintain New Zealand's food safety and trade integrity.
