Overview
A well-established UAE-based business setup and accountancy advisory firm is growing its finance function and is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant in Dubai. This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage core accounting work while also supporting audit readiness, VAT and corporate tax compliance, and the guidance of junior staff.
Role Summary
The selected accountant will handle everyday accounting tasks such as payables, receivables, payroll, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. The position also requires maintaining accurate ledgers, entering data correctly into accounting software, assisting with VAT and corporate tax requirements, and helping supervise junior members of the finance team. Strong UAE experience, audit exposure, and familiarity with Zoho Books are important for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Accounts Manager with routine finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and data entry.
- Prepare and post financial transactions on a daily basis with accuracy and timeliness.
- Keep supplier, customer, and general ledger records up to date.
- Carry out regular reconciliations and investigate any mismatches or discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end closing and the preparation of financial reports.
- Maintain well-organized financial documentation in both electronic and paper form.
- Manage data entry and records accurately in Zoho Books.
- Support VAT processes such as registration, filing, and deregistration.
- Assist with Corporate Tax compliance and related reporting needs.
- Prepare audit-supporting records, schedules, and documentation.
- Work with internal and external auditors and respond to their queries.
- Help ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and UAE regulations.
- Contribute to the setup and monitoring of financial controls that improve audit compliance.
- Guide, supervise, and support junior accounting team members to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- CA qualification is preferred.
- At least 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in the UAE.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial workflows.
- Good command of MS Office, especially Excel.
- Hands-on experience with Zoho Books or Zoho CRM.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- High level of precision and attention to detail.
- Experience with VAT registration, filing, and deregistration.
- Corporate Tax knowledge is an added advantage.
- Experience supporting audits and preparing audit-ready files.
- Good understanding of internal controls, compliance requirements, and audit procedures.
- Ability to prepare reconciliations, audit schedules, and financial statements/reports.
- Experience working with auditors and addressing audit questions.
- Previous exposure to supervising or mentoring junior staff is beneficial.
