Job Overview
The Senior Accountant will handle project and financial accounting with a strong focus on IFRS-based reporting, timely month-end close, and reliable financial controls in an active contracting setting. This role plays an important part in management reporting, cash-flow tracking, and audit preparedness while ensuring compliance with internal policies and UAE regulatory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Check journal entries and verify that balance-sheet reconciliations are accurate and fully supported.
- Account for revenue, IPCs, variations, and customer billing in accordance with IFRS and contractual terms.
- Carry out and assist with month-end and year-end close work, including accrual postings and reconciliations.
- Oversee subcontractor and supplier accounting, including advances, retention amounts, and settlement follow-up.
- Compile monthly project profit and loss statements, work-in-progress schedules, and cost-to-complete analysis.
- Track project costs, compare budget versus actual performance, and monitor margins and completion forecasts.
- Maintain accounting controls and delegation-of-authority compliance, and support audit readiness at both project and head office level.
- Assist with project cash-flow projections and management reporting outputs.
- Help prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies when required.
- Contribute to process improvements and greater automation in accounting and reporting workflows.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional credentials such as CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent certification are preferred.
- At least 10 years of accounting experience, specifically within contracting companies.
- Practical exposure to procurement cycles, subcontractor management, and retention accounting.
- Strong command of ERP platforms and advanced Excel for project accounting tasks.
- Solid understanding of IFRS, especially work-in-progress accounting and revenue recognition.
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Capability to manage several active projects while working under time and cost constraints.
