Role overview
This position is aimed at accounting professionals who are comfortable working on operational financial close activities under HGB and IFRS, supporting year-end audit preparation, and advising finance stakeholders in an international environment.
Key responsibilities
- Review accounting entries, challenge existing processes, and help maintain a high standard of data accuracy.
- Take ownership of guidelines related to proper accounting principles, commercial, tax, and corporate law requirements, as well as balance sheet accounting standards under HGB and IFRS.
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements including consolidation, and act as a primary contact for auditors, tax advisers, and other key stakeholders.
- Assist the team with monthly IFRS close activities.
- Work closely with colleagues in the UK and other countries to establish consistent group-wide processes and approaches.
- Help design, document, and improve end-to-end accounting processes to continuously strengthen the internal control system.
Candidate profile
You should have a completed degree in business administration or a related commercial field, along with at least 3 years of professional experience in auditing, ideally at a Big Four firm, or in a similar role within industry or the energy sector. Strong expertise in balance sheet accounting and financial statement preparation under IFRS and HGB is essential. The role also calls for a tech-savvy mindset, an enthusiasm for automation, a practical team-oriented approach, and the willingness to share knowledge. Fluency in both German and English is required.
