Overview
The Senior Accountant will support the Controller by managing daily accounting activities for Contexture, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The role requires collaboration with several departments and offers flexibility for local remote work from Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, or Grand Junction, CO, with a requirement to live in one of these locations.
Core Responsibilities
- Reconcile balance sheets accurately and thoroughly.
- Analyze financial data and prepare internal reports to inform decision-making.
- Take an active role in closing processes at month-end.
- Assist in preparing documentation and materials for audits.
- Ensure timely submission of financial, tax, and compliance reports as assigned.
- Create and maintain departmental procedures and controls for accounting functions.
- Identify opportunities and implement improvements within internal accounting workflows.
- Work closely with finance colleagues and other teams to maintain the organization’s financial stability.
- Perform additional related duties as delegated.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP standards.
- Experienced in data analysis and financial reporting.
- Capable of conveying complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to non-financial audiences.
- Proficient with internal and external audit processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience with ERP software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics, is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to multitask efficiently.
- Possesses strong responsibility and dedication toward organizational objectives.

Education and Experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience; background in nonprofit and private sectors favored.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline essential; Master’s degree preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work environment is typically moderate noise level.
- May require occasional after-hours work and limited travel to clients, conferences, or events.
- Responsible for handling sensitive data including PHI, PII, and financial records, complying with all relevant legal and policy standards.
- Regular communication and coordination across the organization.
- Frequent movement around office to access resources; ability to be seated for half of work time.
- Extensive computer and office equipment usage.
- Handling materials up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 30 pounds.
