About the Role

Drake New Zealand is partnering with a highly regarded Chartered Accounting firm based in Matamata, Waikato, known for exceptional client service and trusted advisory relationships across rural, commercial, and family-owned businesses. Due to their sustained growth and growing advisory demand, they are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee your own portfolio of rural, commercial, and family business clients.
  • Prepare annual financial statements, tax returns, and complete compliance duties.
  • Deliver proactive accounting, taxation, and business advisory guidance.
  • Support clients with budgeting, cash flow forecasts, and management reporting.
  • Identify risks, uncover improvement opportunities, and offer business insights.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships through effective communication.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff to foster professional growth.
  • Collaborate with Managers and Partners on advisory projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Advocate for process enhancements and best practices within the firm.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous public practice accounting experience at the Senior Accountant level.
  • Thorough understanding of New Zealand accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or actively pursuing CA accreditation preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with effective time management capabilities.
  • A proactive, client-centered mindset with enthusiasm for advisory services.
