Job description
Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and seasoned Senior Accountant to handle daily accounting functions, prepare comprehensive financial statements, oversee month-end and year-end closures, and ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards and company regulations. This pivotal role requires outstanding analytical capabilities, thorough knowledge of financial principles, and hands-on experience with ERP and accounting software.
Primary Duties
- Compile and assess monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements accurately and timely.
- Oversee general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and reconcile accounts thoroughly.
- Lead the closing procedures at month-end and year-end to ensure financial accuracy.
- Guarantee compliance with applicable accounting frameworks, tax laws, and internal protocols.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any identified variances.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting activities, and perform detailed financial analyses.
- Facilitate both internal and external audits by preparing and providing relevant documentation.
- Track and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and overall cash flow effectively.
- Generate statutory reports and handle necessary tax submissions timely.
- Drive continuous improvements in accounting processes to improve efficacy.
- Mentor junior accounting personnel and carry out quality checks on their outputs.
- Work collaboratively with different departments to deliver financial insights that assist in strategic decisions.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Hold a professional certification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or an equivalent credential is desirable.
- Have between five to eight years of progressive experience in accounting roles, ideally in senior positions.
- Deep understanding of accounting standards, including GAAP or IFRS.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting platforms like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or Tally.
- Proven experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, and audit facilitation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Advanced Excel proficiency including pivot tables, Power Query, and advanced lookup functions.
- Experience in financial planning and comprehensive analysis.
- Well-versed in tax compliance and statutory reports preparation.
- Able to handle multiple deadlines and operate independently.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams.
